The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has announced the process of public tender for the adaptation and renovation works of the San Roque Senior Center in Tinajo with a budget amounting to 519,255.97 euros, co-financed by the first Corporation and the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN).

“The San Roque Senior Center building will be comprehensively rehabilitated with the aim of improving the accessibility of people with mobility problems and adapting it to current regulations, mainly in terms of energy efficiency,” Corujo emphasizes.

"One of the priorities of the Cabildo's social care is to achieve the well-being of our elders. This work eliminates barriers so that people with mobility problems can enjoy their stay at the Center,” says the Minister of Social Welfare, Isabel Martin.

This senior center was built in 1990 and is currently a senior residence and a day center, for which it has 14 rooms, common occupational areas, a garden and a kitchen-dining team, all with their corresponding storage spaces.

As detailed by the island councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, “the works will consist of the installation of new carpentry, both interior and exterior, the conditioning of the rooms and bathrooms to be one hundred percent accessible, in addition to the reforms of the plumbing, sanitation and electricity installations, as well as the waterproofing of the roof of the pergolas”.

The works, whose execution period is estimated at 18 months, will also include the renovation of the garden, the living area, trees, orchard and the gym.

The deadline for interested companies to submit their offers ended on July 16.
