The purchase of four vehicles and self-protection material for the fire department is up for tender. The Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote has a total budget of 375,250 euros, to which the IGIC must be added.
Two of the vehicles will be used for day-to-day use and will be electric. A spending of 70,000 euros is planned for these two units. Meanwhile, the others will be "dissuasive" vehicles, according to the note issued by the Security and Emergency Consortium. In this second case, they will be 4x4 models, will be destined for the intervention of firefighters in areas of difficult access and will have an initial budget of 260,000 euros for their acquisition.
In addition, there is a ramp-compressor, with a tender amount of 45,250 euros for the storage and recharging of oxygen cylinders that they use in many of their actions, constituting a fundamental element of self-protection in many of the fires and interventions they undertake.
The present tender has been published in the contractor profile of the Security and Emergency Consortium on Saturday, March 25, with interested companies having until April 25 to submit their proposals.
This new contest is in addition to "the recent award of a heavy urban fire engine, for 403,509.84 euros; a light urban fire engine, for 304,523.07 euros; a heavy vehicle rescue unit, for 410,878.93 euros; a pick-up van, for 59,441.82 euros; as well as three equipped jet skis, for 60,831.43 euros, recently delivered, the latter, to the Consortium", said in a statement the president of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Marcos Bergaz.
"We hope that on this occasion the award of these four new vehicles and equipment can be formalized, aimed at helping the fire department in the hundreds of services they provide each year for security on the island of Lanzarote and La Graciosa," Bergaz continued.
In addition, he pointed out that "these investments are possible thanks to the exceptional financial contribution of our majority partner, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, which has nominated us a subsidy of 1.5 million euros for the renewal and expansion of the Consortium's vehicle fleet."
