The PSOE of Tinajo has shown its "concern about the possibility that the population will run out of garbage collection service", since this Friday the last contract signed by the mayor with the company that has been providing the service expires. That contract was signed through the emergency route during the state of alarm, after the previous one had expired without calling a new contest, and the socialists point out that "it does not admit extension or renewal".
"At the moment we do not know what will happen to the service," warned councilor Begoña Hernández, who has once again asked the mayor, Jesús Machín, for explanations. "There is discontent and there are many complaints from the residents of the municipality and this shows once again, and it has been almost a year, the neglect shown by this government group," denounces the mayor.
It was at the end of 2019 when the contract with the company Hernández Bello ended, which was already generating complaints due to various deficiencies in the provision of the service. At that time, the government group chose to authorize an extension, which came to an end during the Covid-19 crisis. Then, what the mayor did was sign a new contract with this same company, using the emergency route. However, the PSOE warns that this last contract ends on July 31, without knowing what will happen to the service.
"The residents of Tinajo deserve to be acted upon with foresight and agility, in the face of a matter of such importance, such as the provision of this essential service," warn from the PSOE group in the City Council, which blames this situation on the "negligence of the mayor".
