A technical report, signed by the head of the "Agustín de la Hoz" House of Culture in Arrecife, warns of the "danger of degradation and biological attacks" on the César Manrique murals found in the building, which date from 1947, according to the socialists of Arrecife.

The document argues that "the current adverse climatic conditions and the humidity problems of the House of Culture, being closed and without the necessary ventilation, may cause the deterioration of the murals".

According to the local secretary of the capital's PSOE, José Montelongo, "the Government group has known the report for days and has not even sent an operator to ventilate the room where the frescoes are located".

Montelongo points out that, when the murals appeared in the first phase of the restoration works of the old Casino, "the efforts of the socialist councilor María Dolores Rodríguez led to obtaining a subsidy of 31,000 euros from the Ministry of Culture to restore the paintings." However, he points out, "now, with the work interrupted due to lack of budget until nobody knows when, the apparent negligence of the mayor may cause the loss of this important sample of César's pictorial work".

According to the socialist, "having one of the first works of the international artist in Arrecife is another attraction for tourists to visit the city." "For this reason, we do not understand that whoever spreads to the four winds their interest in tourism, ignores one more opportunity to attract visitors, not to mention the historical, cultural and ethnographic value of the paintings," Montelongo added.
