The PSOE in Yaiza has lamented "the terrible household garbage collection service in Playa Blanca". The situation "is so serious" that the city council "is removing the garbage accumulated from the Carmen festivities with a shovel and its own truck this Monday".
In fact, the city council itself has announced through its social networks that, given the incidents in garbage collection this weekend, it "has summoned the company that provides the service to an urgent meeting to hear its report on the events".
Carmen Guadalupe, municipal spokesperson for the PSOE, shares that it is necessary to "resolve this situation", which has led to the city council carrying out "shock measures and preparing alternatives to solve these deficiencies that, in no case, do the residents deserve, however temporary the contract may be".
New tender for service provision
According to Carmen Guadalupe, "the number one priority is to launch a new tender for the provision of the service, for which, apparently, there is a budget item, but we agree with the government group that an essential service needs immediate responses when incidents as serious as those of this weekend occur".
Finally, Carmen Guadalupe recalls that Playa Blanca has 13,000 residents, more than 11,000 vacation home places and more than 20,000 conventional accommodation places in hotels and tourist complexes, so "this degrading situation cannot be prolonged for even one more day".
