"The mayor of the municipality has not moved a single paper to take advantage of the subsidies of the Canary Islands Housing Plan 2020-2025, approved by the Government of the Canary Islands for its action as a collaborating entity in the management of the program to combat depopulation in rural areas", this is denounced by the socialist councilors of the municipality.

“It is very painful to see how, with so many families lacking economic resources to rehabilitate their homes, the mayor Jesús Machín and his government do not process these aids that are so necessary to guarantee living conditions, or adapt them by improving accessibility conditions in the case of people with mobility problems”, points out Begoña Hernández.

The aforementioned Plan regulates, among other aids, the one related to the Program to combat depopulation in rural areas, which aims to promote the construction of homes for rent, the rehabilitation of homes to provide adequate living conditions, energy consumption savings, structural elements, as well as works for the proper maintenance of the same, focusing on municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants.

"We know that there are many people in the municipality in this situation and the mayor is condemning them and taking away opportunities that families in this situation have in other municipalities on the island, such as San Bartolomé, where these subsidies are taken advantage of”, added the socialist councilor.
