The PSOE of Tinajo regrets that the mayor, Jesús Machín, “takes a back seat” when it comes to seeking support for Tinajo to become the Rural Tourism Capital 2022. The PSOE points out that the motion presented by the Socialist Group in the last Municipal Plenary proposed the agreement to urge the Cabildo and the Government of the Canary Islands “to help in the dissemination of the candidacy and thus obtain more support from the Canarian and Lanzarote citizens”.
“It is unacceptable that Machín beats his chest when we talk about the progress of Tinajo, and then votes against an issue that would have a favorable impact on the promotion and development of our municipality”, says the socialist spokesperson, Begoña Hernández.
“This is a motion for everyone to come together, joining efforts so that the promotion of the candidacy reaches the largest number of people possible,” emphasizes the councilor.
“Maintaining the barriers faced by deaf people”
In addition, the Socialist group submitted another motion to the Plenary to promote the use of sign language in municipal offices and in municipal public events. "Despite this, Coalición Canaria has chosen to maintain the barriers faced by deaf people in our municipality, voting against our motion,” says Begoña Hernández.
The government group also rejected the ordering of the parking lot located behind the Parish House. The Socialist Group explains that this motion requested that the mayor “take the necessary steps to establish the maximum capacity of said parking lot, delimiting the spaces and painting them on the asphalt, as well as making the necessary improvements to optimize mobility”.
However, the socialist proposal was met with the frontal rejection of Jesús Machín and his government team. “They thus demonstrate that they are getting locked into their obsolete ideas and not accepting the proposals of the opposition, despite knowing that they are beneficial for our municipality,” concludes Begoña Hernández.
