The PSOE of Teguise opens the political year with new proposals for the future of the municipality. According to the spokesperson Marcos Bergaz, "it is the path that will allow Teguise and La Graciosa to catch up and face the coming years with the best guarantees for the citizens." Therefore, the socialists, as the most voted party in the last elections, "extend our hand to the municipal government in order to formalize a multi-year investment plan in basic infrastructures and reinforce road safety on Avenida de las Palmeras".

Regarding the multi-year investment plan, "we rely on the latest Study on Infrastructures and Equipment of Lanzarote, prepared by the Data Center of the Cabildo of Lanzarote in 2019, which showed the need for investments in basic infrastructures such as sidewalks, public lighting, asphalt, and sewage system in the Municipality of Teguise because a good part of these elements were in regular or poor condition, apart from their non-existence in numerous points of the municipality", says Bergaz.

With the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens, "Teguise must face with foresight the resolution of this situation through a large multi-year plan for the rest of the 2023-2027 term that allows updating all public infrastructure".

Avenida de las Palmeras of the 21st Century

Another ambitious project that the socialist group will raise in the next plenary session of Teguise will be the adaptation and correction of a series of deficits that are detected in the Avenida de las Palmeras of Costa Teguise, the gateway to the main tourist and population center of the municipality.

In this sense, Bergaz points out that it is frequent to "observe vehicles at a speed much higher than the mandatory one for an urban road, there is a lack of adequate lighting for the transit of pedestrians, the implementation of a roundabout between Avenida del Campo de Golf and Calle Piteras, and among other actions, an improvement in the conservation, maintenance, and ornamentation of the surrounding spaces of the main artery of Costa Teguise is required".

The Avenida de las Palmeras of the 21st Century would have to take shape by "increasing the number of raised pedestrian crossings in order to reduce the speed of vehicles traveling on this urban road, installing different traffic lights that facilitate the walk of pedestrians and control the safety of vehicles, and drafting a beautification plan that qualifies the avenue".

Finally, the PSOE of Teguise will ask the municipal government to be "especially careful with the agreements that are adopted in the plenary hall". Despite having a Transparency Portal on the electronic headquarters of the City Council, information regarding the agreements adopted in the plenary or the state of compliance with the motions presented has not been included.

Faced with this situation, Marcos Bergaz urges the ruling group "to enable a specific section within the electronic headquarters of the City Council of Teguise, where all the motions presented in the plenary by the political groups are detailed and the state of compliance with them is reflected".

"It is senseless to waste the tools that the City Council has in its hand with a view to strengthening municipal transparency, allowing residents to access in a transparent and direct way the information that affects the work of the different municipal groups and the fulfillment of the agreements by the Government team", adds the socialist leader.

Finally, as usual, the Socialist Team of Teguise invites the citizens of the municipality to attend the plenary session that will take place this Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Spínola Palace of Teguise or follow the session on the web.
