The socialists from Lanzarote consider that the granting of a license for more than a thousand homes and 220 premises in Playa Blanca, based on the General Plan of 1973, is a fact "of extreme gravity" that requires "forceful measures"

The PSC-PSOE of Lanzarote states in a press release that "it considers the news published in the February 16 edition of the La Voz de Lanzarote weekly, which states that the mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, granted a license by decree to build a residential complex in Playa Blanca, with the Technical Office basing its favorable report on the 1973 Yaiza General Zoning Plan." After the confirmation of these facts by the Cabildo, the socialists have announced that they will demand that the Plenary "take measures, not only of an administrative nature, but also criminal, in the face of the evident violation of the Island Territorial Planning Plan (PIOT) of Lanzarote, in force since 1991, and the suspension of urban planning licenses decreed by the first Corporation while the Special Territorial Tourism Planning Plan (PTEOT) is approved."

The license granted by Reyes allows the construction of 1008 homes and 220 premises in the area known as Cortijo de Costa Roja, on one million square meters, which could accommodate up to 4,000 residents. The area completely lacks a provision project, so the complex would not have public services for water, electricity or sanitation.

In addition, and as already pointed out in the La Voz news, the socialists emphasize that after the approval of the permit, which was ratified on December 5 by decree of the mayor, the Cabildo was not informed of the granting of the license, as required by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, nor has it been done to date with the Plenary of the southern Corporation.
