The PSOE claims that Yonathan de León spent 550,000 euros at the April Fair in a single day

Cristina Duque, spokesperson for the socialist party in the capital's City Council, accuses the mayor of "burning this amount of public money at a fair in one day 'without batting an eye'."

Almost 600 thousand euros, specifically 548,561.16 euros, is the "new bill that the Arrecife City Council will pay in Yonathan de León's latest spree," according to the PSOE of Arrecife. "It is a savage amount for a party with no roots in Lanzarote and, furthermore, after declaring Arrecife a 'catastrophe zone' due to the floods suffered a month ago, this gentleman is burning public money while not fixing the basic problems of the citizens of the capital," they criticize.

"To the already scandalous 550 thousand euros counted, we must add: equestrian show and dancer, horse ride, a performance by the Raya group and an extra contract for decorating the booth," they continue. "Yonathan de León burned 550 thousand euros of public money in one day of the fair, without batting an eye," says Cristina Duque.

24 hours of shows, 550 thousand euros

The PSOE of Arrecife details that "if we take into account that the fair started on May 2 at 6:00 p.m. and lasted until 3:30 a.m., and then on May 3 from 12:00 p.m. to approximately 3:30 a.m., we have to say that De León's Andalusian fair lasted 24 hours of shows, costing a total of 548,561.15 euros. Which gives an average of 22,916 euros of spending per hour."

"But we don't only have this expense, but the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism melted the amount of almost 39,000 euros in Yonathan's spree, making a total of 587,118.39 euros in one day of the Fair," says the PSOE councilor in Arrecife," she continues.

Cristina Duque concludes by saying that "spending more than half a million euros of public money to celebrate the April Fair in Lanzarote is something that can only occur to a gentleman who has lost his way. From the PSOE, the question we ask ourselves again is: who will put a limit on the waste in sprees that we are in?"
