The PSOE conveys this Wednesday through a press release its desire that the government of Teguise, formed by the Canarian Coalition (CC), the Popular Party (PP) and the former Vox councilor, "take advantage" of its presence at the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (FITUR) to "announce once and for all the opening of the main museums of La Villa".
The socialists refer to the continued closure of the Castle of Santa Bárbara, at the top of the Guanapay mountain, which housed the piracy museum, and which despite opening on the eve of the 2023 elections, is closed; and to the Timple museum, in the Spínola Palace, which only opens for specific events and where the timples gather dust waiting for their opening.
"Hence, our request that coinciding with the participation of the current government of Teguise in such a distinguished tourism fair, the current 'lockdown' to which the main museums of the noble, royal and illustrious Villa de Teguise continue to be subjected is overcome," says Tana Reyes.
"Of course, tourists and residents will appreciate it, as they leave wanting to visit these museum spaces 'plated' for too many months in the face of the government's parsimony," recalls the councilor.
"That is why - continues Reyes - it would be great if they took advantage of FITUR to put an end to this double lockdown, which also lasts during the months of greatest influx of visitors to the municipality, from summer to the present."
"Because in addition to being a first-rate tourist and cultural attraction, their visits generate an income of more than 100,000 euros per year, in the case of the piracy museum, and about 25,000 for the Timple Museum," recalls the councilor.
"Hopefully, this event in the epicenter of tourism will serve to promote its immediate opening - clarifies the councilor -, hopefully, the PSOE's requests will have an effect so that tourists and residents can visit and enjoy these properties, jewels of Teguise and Canarian culture, architecture and history; hopefully, because it would be one of the best promotions we could do for this great municipality," concludes Tana Reyes.
