The Prosecutor's Office of Arrecife has requested the Tinajo City Council to send them the documentation related to six contracts of municipal workers within a maximum period of 20 days. Thus, it has requested that the City Council "prove the necessary requirements" for these six people to occupy the positions they hold within the municipal administration.

The Prosecutor's Office wants to know if these are "positions occupied by competition, opposition or, in general, the criteria followed for the designation" of these people. In addition, it has asked the City Council for the "necessary information" that justifies the remuneration of the former secretary-intervenor and another municipal employee and also the "salary increases" they experienced these two people "from January 2012 to the current date".

"The contracts have been made like the others"

The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, said this Monday on Radio Lanzarote that "the contracts have been made like the others" and insisted that he has never had "any report against or warning me that I cannot do it". Regarding the alleged bonuses, which were publicly denounced by Opción por Lanzarote in January of this year, Machín has assured that "he has not authorized" any salary increase. "That is a matter for the Intervention Department," he indicated.

"I am not going to talk about this, because it is in the Prosecutor's Office. I have nothing more to say. I will say things in the Prosecutor's Office when I have to say them. Regarding the documentation, it will be sent in a timely manner. I have already asked the secretary-intervenor to prepare everything," insisted the mayor of Tinajo.

Machín wanted to make it clear that he is working "calmly", taking the "steps that need to be taken" and with "a clear conscience".
