The Popular Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote will request the urgent appearance of the president of the Cabildo so that, "once and for all, she explains what is really happening with Canal Gestión and what the island government plans to do to guarantee citizens the service of a basic and essential good such as water."

For the Popular Party, the supply cut that has been occurring since Wednesday in different parts of the island and the serious supply problem that La Graciosa experienced just a week ago is “the straw that breaks the camel's back within the accumulation of absurdities and breaches that the concessionaire company has been adding up over the last few years.”

“During all this time, the president has been hiding in a cave, avoiding pronouncing or making any move tending to ensure that Canal Gestión complies with its obligations as a concessionaire and guarantees the water supply to the two islands,” says the councilor of the Popular Party, Jacobo Medina, who points to the progressive deterioration that has been occurring in the services “to the point that right now there are serious doubts about the future of the company and, what is worse, the future of water in Lanzarote.”

The Popular Party considers it regrettable that once again the company is unable to comply with the water supply in the middle of summer and that the Cabildo does not raise its voice or take any measure to prevent this new outrage to the citizens. “Faced with a critical situation like this, we believe that the population deserves an explanation from the highest authority of the island government, who has made it a habit to hide and not show her face when there is a problem,” the Popular Party members state.
