The municipal spokesperson for the Popular Party in the Teguise City Council, Jonás Álvarez, will once again insist before the plenary session on the need to launch "immediately" a plan to improve and repair all the municipality's playgrounds that have deficiencies and are in poor condition.

The PP councilor expresses his outrage at the "inaction" of Oswaldo Betancort's government regarding the play and recreation areas for the children of the municipality of Teguise. “It is not the first time that our group has raised this demand to the government team and there have been too many times that we have heard promises and more promises that have not been fulfilled,” Álvarez denounces.

Jonás Álvarez points out that "more than a year ago the Department announced an improvement project for the entire network of more than 30 playgrounds that exist in the municipality without any significant changes having been seen in the vast majority of them to date". “We believe that the floor of all the enclosures must be changed urgently, changing the tiles for continuous flooring because this type of tile lifts up and leaves gaps that are not safe for users,” he indicates.

The councilor, who together with members of the local committee of Tequise, has toured all the towns in the municipality, affirms that he has been able to verify once again “how outdated and abandoned the parks are with broken furniture, raised tiles, worn floors, etc.” “It is inexplicable that at this time when parents take the opportunity to walk through the towns and their children enjoy the few activities they can develop in these times of pandemic, the City Council has not been able to meet the demand, take advantage of the time and renovate the playgrounds,” he says.

Jonás Álvarez acknowledges and is pleased that in parks such as Caleta de Famara or the Los Molinos neighborhood of Teguise you can already enjoy new floors, but considers that “at this rate another legislature will be consumed and not everyone will have been reached.” Thus, the councilor and popular spokesperson will present an urgent motion this Thursday "so that the government mobilizes and acts with the diligence that the parents themselves are demanding".
