The Popular Party councilor in the Tinajo City Council, Carmen Rosa Pérez, has denounced the overflow in which the garbage containers are located in the different towns of the municipality. According to the popular councilor, the waste collection service has been "out of service for at least three days", which has filled the capacity of the tanks and the garbage bags "are already on the ground".

For his part, the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, has assured La Voz that this collection has not been carried out for "two days and not three". "The company has not paid the workers and they are not going to do their job until they receive their salary," Machín said.

However, the mayor has assured La Voz that it seems that the company, Camilo Álvarez, will pay the workers' salaries this Thursday afternoon, with which the service will be restored "immediately". "There were problems last month and they were solved. The Tinajo City Council pressured and fought to pay all these people," he said.

"Regrettable"

Although it seems that the problems could be solved this Thursday, the truth is that the PP considers this situation to be "regrettable". And it is that, apart from the image of "deterioration" offered by the municipality, according to this formation, "these points are sources of bad odors and unhealthiness, which may be aggravated by the high temperatures that are being recorded these days on the island".

In addition, the PP councilor has also criticized the municipal government for not having given "any explanation so far about the reasons why the garbage collection service has been interrupted". "Despite the fact that neighborhood complaints are increasing and that we have tried to find out first-hand what the problem is, neither the mayor nor any member of the government group has spoken about this issue," denounced Carmen Rosa Pérez.

These statements by the popular councilor have not gone down well with the mayor of Tinajo, who has said that he does not understand why this formation contacts the media before contacting the municipal government itself. "If they want to know what's going on, let them call me. Let them ask the City Council or the mayor for information. I don't understand how a councilor asks through a newspaper. That is political demagoguery," Machín criticized.
