The Popular Party has denounced that the dependencies of the municipal children's library, located in Calle La Inés, are closed in the afternoons due to "the apathy of the Department of Culture". The PP assures that this area has not sought a solution to the problem that is registered in the concierge of the library itself because "there is no staff who want to go in the afternoons".
The populars have assured that they echo the complaints of "many fathers and mothers", who "are outraged by the fact that the doors of the library are closed precisely during the hours when children can make more use of it".
"It is incomprehensible that while the municipal government affirms that one of the basic pillars of its management is culture and education, public children's libraries are not available in the morning and afternoon", criticized the PP councilor, Carmen Sáez. From the PP they have claimed these spaces as "a fundamental tool for the promotion of reading among the little ones, as well as the book lending system".
The populars have urged the Municipal Corporation to arbitrate a solution that allows a "more rational and effective use of this service". They have also criticized the fact that the quality of municipal public services is "increasingly far from what the residents of Arrecife pay for their municipal taxes". "Instead of being equal, we see that the more taxes, the more deficient the services are", the PP insisted.
