The PP demands explanations from the PSOE for "not supporting transparency measures in Arrecife"

The Popular Party has reproached the Socialist Party for rejecting the motion of the capital's Popular Party where more transparency measures were requested, specifically that the opposition councilors have free access to information, "which is not happening at this time", according to the PP group.

For the populars it is "a real shame and an outrage that the PSOE is dedicated to asking for responsibilities, transparency and exemplary behavior in public behavior to others, and meanwhile when it is time to apply those values not only does not put them into practice but rejects them as has happened in today's plenary session".

"We deeply regret this opaque and discouraging position of the PSOE, but sadly it does not surprise us since it seems that Mr. Montelongo is not even close to being the best example of transparency and exemplary behavior", says Cristóbal Junkal, councilor of the Popular Party.

From the Popular Party they point out that "the government group has totally lost its way, since it is not understood that the measures that the citizens are clamoring for, such as democratic regeneration and transparency exercises, are not being attended to by the ruling group, with the exception of the mayor who broke the voting discipline by abstaining, while his councilors from CC and those from the PSOE voted against".

PP support for victims of gender violence

The Popular Party wanted to make it clear that "at no time did it refuse to support women victims of gender violence, what it did reject was the twisted partisan and unscrupulous use of the PSOE by presenting a motion sent from Ferraz to use such a sensitive issue as a weapon against the central government".

The populars offered up to two alternatives to carry out a unanimous proposal against gender violence, first an institutional declaration and second a joint motion addressed to all the competent bodies in this matter. None of them went ahead mainly due to the rejection of Eva de Anta and José Montelongo, explain from the PP.

"It is incredible what can still be seen in a plenary session of Arrecife, of course they have no limit, using very sensitive issues to make twisted-political use that certainly cannot be admitted, the moral supremacy of the PSOE is a real outrage, the victims of gender violence do not hurt them more than me,  we do not accept it, we tried to include our proposals so that the motion would be passed unanimously", explains Joel Delgado.

For its part, the Popular Party recalled that "since the entry of this government, the victims of gender violence have decreased from 64 in 2011, to 52 in 2012 and finally 54 in 2013, data that are still unacceptable but are at least encouraging. And that more than 260 proposals have been launched aimed at eliminating sexist violence".

Congratulations to Yolanda Brocal, new PP councilor

The popular group in the Arrecife City Council once again has the eight councilors that the popular will granted to the Popular Party in the last local elections and that until now had been curtailed by the refusal of the turncoat councilor Nayra Callero to hand over her seat.

"Capable, diligent, intelligent, kind and very hardworking person, this is our new colleague Yolanda Brocal who joins today closing a very negative stage for the municipality of Arrecife, I fully trust that she will do very well as a councilor of the City Council contributing freshness and dynamism". Says Joel Delgado, spokesman for the Popular Party.
