The Port Authority of Las Palmas has approved the awarding of the Duque de Alba works for the Naos Dock to the company Cyes Maritime Works for an estimated amount of one million euros and an approximate execution period of eight months. This work will allow two large vessels with more than 260 meters to arrive simultaneously at the dock.
In addition, the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, states that "a further step has also been taken in the process of awarding the contract for the southern breakwater of the Naos Cruise Ship Dock", empowering President Cardona in this Board of Directors to award the works that were put out to public tender for an amount of approximately 11 million euros and an execution period of 18 months. These works will consist of the southern closure of the dock with a breakwater hammer that will allow these facilities to be operational for ship berths, mainly cruise ships, during southern storms.
At the Board of Directors meeting this Thursday, the technical assistance for the control and direction of the works of these two projects, the Duque de Alba and the Breakwater, was also approved, and the paving works of the esplanade of the Muelle de Los Mármoles were awarded, which had a tender budget of more than 596,000 euros, to improve the condition of the current pavement in the existing roads and parking lots of the dock in order to provide better service to road traffic.
