The action of the Local Police of Yaiza with the use of its drone unit last weekend allowed the location and rescue of two hikers lost in the Los Ajaches Natural Monument. "This is just one example of the usefulness of this technology acquired by the City Council to increase the reaction capacity and reduce the response time in emergency care," they point out from the Consistory.
Mayor Óscar Noda maintains that “the work of the agents is essential, so the good use of technology is a complement that favors the good work of the 31 police officers, women and men, who currently make up the staff of the Local Police of Yaiza.”
The Udron is an efficient tool to locate people lost in difficult-to-access areas, optimizing resources and, above all, saving time. “The case of the weekend is a good example, since the Police located the hikers and immediately activated the vehicle to pick them up at the exact point without having to search the entire area with all-terrain vehicles,” adds the mayor.
The Police drone has a camera for capturing images in high resolution, thermal sensor, zoom, speakers that can be used in operations and preventive services, and an LED spotlight for searching for people at night, taking advantage of the thermal camera. The City Council trains the agents and they themselves are responsible for piloting it.
The leader of Yaiza wishes to publicly thank “the three agents who intervened in the last rescue in Los Ajaches who carried out a magnificent team work that allowed the rescue to be completed in less than an hour.”
Óscar Noda also values the Udron in public shows such as Carnival, “where the Police have already used it in preventive surveillance services for the sake of citizen security. Yaiza has the resources and the capacity to continue improving the endowment of our Local Police, thanking in advance the citizen collaboration.”
