The Yaiza City Council reminds residents and visitors of the mandatory correct use of masks as resolved by the Government of the Canary Islands since August 13 when it approved one of the latest updates on preventive measures to deal with the health crisis caused by the coronavirus. The Local Police of Yaiza confirms the processing of 12 files for non-compliance with the use of masks, 8 reports to pedestrians in public spaces and 4 in hospitality establishments.
Yaiza maintains its awareness campaign to respect the rules to prevent the spread of covid-19 with initiatives such as the publication of a guide to good practices for the use of public space and constant messages on the importance of obeying the recommendations of the health authorities, also reinforcing controls to guarantee compliance with safety and hygiene regulations.
Regarding the mask, the Administration recalls that its use is mandatory from the age of six on public roads, in outdoor spaces and in any closed space for public use, or that is open to the public, regardless of maintaining the interpersonal safety distance of at least 1.5 meters.
Yaiza also emphasizes the correct way to use it, properly adjusted to the nose and chin, so that it prevents the expulsion of respiratory secretions into the environment.
The mask is also mandatory in hospitality and restaurant establishments and services, including bars and cafeterias, except when eating and drinking. On beaches and swimming pools, the obligation to use a mask is only excluded during bathing and while remaining in a specific space, without moving, and provided that respect for the interpersonal safety distance between all non-cohabiting users can be guaranteed. In any case, the use of a mask will be mandatory in the accesses, movements and walks that take place in these spaces and facilities. Citizen collaboration is essential to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
