Justice orders Arrecife to reinstate Asenet Padrón as secretary "immediately"

Vecinos Unidos has announced that the Contentious-Administrative Court number 1 of Las Palmas has ordered the Arrecife City Council to proceed "immediately" to comply with the sentence in which it ordered that Asenet Padrón be reinstated in the job "from which she was unduly removed" as secretary of the Consistory.

The dismissal of Asenet Padrón occurred in January 2012 under the Mayoralty of Cándido Reguera and the Court has already ruled on up to three occasions in favor of the former secretary of the City Council, declaring her dismissal null, according to Vecinos Unidos. However, despite this, Padrón had not been reinstated in her job.

The formation recalls that on October 17, 2017, after the sentence of September 5 ordered the reinstatement of Asenet Padrón to her job, Vecinos Unidos presented a motion to the plenary requesting that the former secretary of Arrecife return to occupy the position "due to the lack of decision by the still mayoress." And Vecinos Unidos, in that plenary session, the still mayoress of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, assured verbatim that "the City Council effectively complies with the sentences and executes them" and that it was "preparing" the "execution" of this last sentence that had reached the Consistory.

"Lies! The mayoress lied to us blatantly!", they now point out from Vecinos Unidos, from where they explain that they make these accusations "because on October 10, 2018, a year after her words, the Contentious-Administrative Court number 1 of the TSJC has required the Arrecife City Council to, immediately, proceed to comply with the sentence of September 5, 2017... and issue the decree of execution of the sentence agreeing to the reinstatement in her job of Doña Asenet Padrón. Likewise, Vecinos Unidos affirms that the judicial resolution orders that the amounts owed to the former secretary of Arrecife be paid to her "as a consequence inherent to the sentence".

"Waste of more public money on unnecessary procedures"

In this way, Vecinos Unidos also criticizes "the waste of more public money on unnecessary procedures." And, it recalls that already in the plenary session of October 2017, its councilor Andrés Medina warned that this "unnecessary procedure" had cost the municipal coffers "around 13,000 euros." "Now, with this new sentence (the third), a year later, how much more will the court costs amount to?", the party asks.

"Does all this economic expense of public money have much to do with the obsessive interest of the still mayoress of Arrecife in keeping her accidental secretary Pilar Machín?", adds Vecinos Unidos, which points out that this official "was digitally designated by Eva de Anta herself."

"Already in January 2017, the Contentious-Administrative Court number 3 of LAs PAlmas annulled the appointment of the current accidental secretary, because it violated a fundamental right enshrined in article 23.2 of the Spanish Constitution", recalls the formation, which also points out that "in June of the same year, the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands reproached the Mayor's Office for the confusion and obscurity that it tried to generate in the lawsuit, with considerations that were alien or strange, condemning the City Council to the payment of costs (again).
