Firefighters extinguish a fire in a house in Lanzarote

The rapid intervention of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium avoided major damage to the terraced house in Arrecife. During the day, two other fires were also extinguished in an abandoned premises and on a plot of land in Playa Blanca.

The personnel of the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote intervened this Monday in three fires registered in different parts of the island, the most notable being the one declared in a dwelling in the Titerroy neighborhood, in Arrecife, where the rapid action of the firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to the rest of the building.

The incident took place at 6:43 p.m. in a single-story house located on El Carmen street. After receiving the alert through CECOES 1-1-2, the firefighters moved to the scene and confirmed upon arrival that the occupants were already outside the dwelling, while a significant accumulation of smoke affected the interior of the building.

During the initial inspection, the personnel located the origin of the fire in the kitchen extractor. The crew proceeded to extinguish the source, cool the affected area to prevent possible flare-ups, and carry out ventilation work to remove the accumulated smoke.

The intervention concluded without personal injuries and also included the participation of agents of the Local Police of Arrecife.

Hours earlier, at 2:50 p.m., firefighters acted in a fire registered inside an abandoned premises in Arrecife. After being alerted by CECOES, the personnel located a burning mattress inside the building and proceeded to extinguish the fire using a water line. They subsequently checked the area to rule out possible hot spots and prevent reignition. The Local Police collaborated in the operation.

Likewise, at 3:35 p.m., a crew moved to Playa Blanca after receiving an alert about a garbage fire in a lot on Don Jaime Quesada El Maestro street. Upon their arrival, Civil Guard agents were already securing the area. The fire affected about 20 square meters of accumulated waste and was extinguished by applying water and wetting agent, becoming completely controlled.
