The Island Water Council of Lanzarote has completed the cleaning works of the Valle Grande ravine in Mala, in the municipality of Haría, whose objective is to avoid obstructions and runoff that may occur during rain episodes.

“Both in the Consortium and in the Island Water Council we try that the urgent does not make us forget the important. And the conditioning of our ravines is a fundamental action to avoid problems of overflows and floods when we suffer episodes of heavy rains”, according to the Councilor Domingo Cejas.

The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, has thanked the technicians of the Island Water Council for the intervention carried out in the Valle Grande ravine and recalls the importance of these small works to prevent risk situations for the residents of the town.

The section of the discontinuous water channel that has been conditioned has a length of 650 meters, with an average width of 5 meters. The action begins at the bifurcation of the channel with the Barranco de la Ladera Este road and ends at the limit of the farm located north of the service road of the LZ-1 Arrecife -Órzola road.

It has been cleared, cleared of stones; the channel of the ravine has been leveled and the weirs have been restored (the barriers that laminate the water level).

The works have allowed the removal of the bend in the channel that was completely buried by the drag material and had lost the drainage section.

The works, whose execution period was planned in two months, have been executed in one month by the company Hermanos Tavío Santana, S.L. with own funds from the Island Water Council of Lanzarote.
