The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has heeded the request of the island's town councils and has given the green light to extend the execution period of the projects included in the 2020 Municipal Cooperation Plans until December 31, 2022.
"We are fully aware of the difficulties that the town councils are encountering due to the complex situation we have been going through in recent months, so we understand that it is necessary to grant this extension so that each town council can complete a catalog of fundamental actions to modernize municipal infrastructures and thus improve the quality of life of the residents,” said the president, María Dolores Corujo.
In parallel, the Governing Council approved the granting of a new deadline to justify these projects, which will end on January 31, 2023.
"The Municipal Cooperation Plan is a document resulting from the consensus between the seven municipalities of the island, responsible for drafting and executing the projects they deem appropriate to improve municipal infrastructures, and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, responsible for paying the financial sheet," they recall from the Island Corporation. In the case of the 2020 Plan, it has a budget of 8.6 million euros from the Cabildo funds.

Once all the projects are executed and justified, the Cabildo of Lanzarote will pay the Arrecife City Council 3,246,409.40 euros, which include the Adaptation and legalization of playgrounds and bio-healthy areas; the Remodeling of the changing rooms and adaptations to the accessibility law of the Argana Alta field; the Amendment to the Adaptation and activity project for the legalization of the Titerroy multi-purpose court; the Optimization and Bastioning of the municipal information system and the Renovation of the public lighting of the Charco de San Ginés.
The Haría City Council will receive 403,806.42 euros, which the northern Consistory will allocate to finance the projects of Repaving of El Dice, El Callejón, Las Casillas and Alpidio Curbelo streets, in Máguez, and Arco Iris street, in Arrieta, and the Partial conditioning of the CEIP San Juan for its use as a nursery school from 0 to 3 years old.
The 2020 Municipal Cooperation Plan allocates 1,067,051.05 to the San Bartolomé City Council to pay for the projects of Adaptation and facilities in the San Bartolomé Sports Center; Expansion of the cemetery; the new firm and pavement of Los Veroles street and a section of La Molina street and the sale of the land located on Párroco Martín street.
In Teguise, the investment of the 2020 Cooperation Plan amounts to 1,286,427.24 euros, with which the projects of Rehabilitation and improvement of the sports courts and playgrounds of Tahiche will be faced; Reform in the Sociocultural Center “Fomento de Tao”, covering of the Canarian ball court and multipurpose rooms for the Elderly and youth; the basic and execution project for conditioning a green area for leisure in Tahiche; Public lighting facilities in Avda. Islas Canarias, Calle Las Olas and adjacent streets, in Costa Teguise; the Supply of thirty-eight compact LED solar luminaires and the basic and execution project for Adaptation of the Technical Office.
The 2020 Municipal Cooperation Plan has an allocation of 1,138,742.36 euros that the Consistory will allocate to the general Conditioning and renovation of the Puerto del Carmen soccer field and the Project for Adaptation and various facilities for a multi-purpose building.
Tinajo will receive 466,849.14 euros to finance the projects of Reform of the municipal offices; and of the sociocultural centers of La Santa and El Cuchillo.
Yaiza, for its part, will receive a budget of 990,914.37 euros to undertake the Repair and implementation of playgrounds in the municipality; the basic and execution project of point 3 pre-collection of waste in Playa Blanca; the municipal shooting range project; the Supply of different street furniture for squares in the municipality and the project of Intervention of urban vertical signage of the municipality.
