The Insular Directorate of the General State Administration in Lanzarote is currently working to ensure that Haría recovers the Civil Guard detachment that was removed for reasons unknown to be transferred to Teguise. This was confirmed this Tuesday by Marcial Martín, who is sure, however, that precious time has been lost in these years in which it has not occurred to anyone to think that the growth of population centers such as Órzola, Arrieta or Punta Mujeres would bring with it the growth of insecurity.

With the complaint filed by the president of the Local Committee of the Party of Independents of Lanzarote (PIL) in Haría, Juan Antonio Betancort, all the alarms went off, and it was found that, indeed, there is a significant number of thefts throughout the northern area, with cases as blatant as those involving entries into private homes while the owners were sleeping. The situation has reached the ears of the Insular Directorate and its highest responsible, who is very clear, as he has been since he took office after the victory of the Socialist Party (PSOE) in the general elections, that Lanzarote has a notable lack of material and human resources that is slowly being addressed.

Specifically, the current situation, with a growing population that is spread along one of the largest municipalities on the island and with greater prospects for development, especially in the residential area, has been aggravated by not having the fixed post of the Civil Guard that did exist before and that was suppressed for reasons that no one explains at this time. For Marcial Martín, what should be clear in the first place is that the robberies in this area generally occur in summer, at the time when places like Arrieta or Punta Mujeres triple their population. Secondly, he believes that much time has been lost by having missed the opportunity to demand the return of the Civil Guard post, more than anything because "now it will be more complicated".

In any case, he stressed that "it is complicated but not impossible", in such a way that he announced that the Insular Directorate is working to change the situation.

The insular director understands that the transfer of the detachment must have been due at the time to the significant reduction in population of Haría town, which does not prevent the State Security Forces and Corps from being recovered now for its coastal areas. In fact, he believes that if the Civil Guard is recovered for the area, its location should be in a place like Arrieta, currently the most important population center.

On the other hand, he announced that there will soon be favorable news related to Yaiza, news that has to do with the increase in police presence in the tourist area of Playa Blanca.
