The Playa Honda industrial area has seen in recent days how several of the companies that carry out their activity in the place are adapting the facades of their businesses to the new aesthetic ordinance drafted by the San Bartolomé City Council.

This aesthetic change of the Playa Honda industrial area has been a primary objective for the Consortium led by Alexis Tejera. “We work to be a very social municipality, and as our only source of income, since we do not receive tourism, is the Playa Honda industrial area, here we are focusing all our efforts, both structurally and aesthetically,” said the mayor.

The mayor stressed the importance of the development of this aesthetic ordinance, which "seeks the revaluation of the Commercial, Industrial and Services Park of Playa Honda through a new aesthetic code using essential island values". The text has developed a regulatory framework that allows establishing "an integral and coherent image to design and review new developments, as well as establishing guidelines to remodel the existing building stock".

A "magnificent reception"

The San Bartolomé City Council would like to thank the "magnificent reception" that this document has had among the businessmen installed in the area, in addition to applauding the initiative of these first companies that have begun to adapt their facades to the text.

The ordinance has been drafted by the Department of Urban Planning, delegated to Marlene Romero. It was born with the aim of regulating the aesthetic aspects and conditions of the buildings located in the industrial and commercial area of the town of Playa Honda.

According to the councilor, “in recent days there has been an increasing request for information from companies to find out how they should proceed to adapt their businesses to the ordinance”.

The implementation of the ordinance is due to a "historical claim" of the San Bartolomé City Council, as well as a request from both the César Manrique Foundation and the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce. It should be remembered that this measure was added to the removal of billboards to achieve a "more aesthetic and homogeneous" image in the municipality.
