The Government of the Canary Islands plans for the IES Zonzamas to be transformed into an Integrated Vocational Training Center (FP) as soon as the conditions for the transfer of ESO and Baccalaureate students are "feasible", as stated this Wednesday by the Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Education, Universities and Sustainability, José Miguel Pérez, on a visit he made to this facility together with the General Director of FP and Adult Education, José Moya. Both have learned about the operation of this center "firsthand".

The Integrated Vocational Training Centers impart all the training offered referring to the National Catalog of Professional Qualifications and lead to Vocational Training degrees and Certificates of Professionalism. Therefore, the IES Zonzamas "will be a center of reference in professional matters for the entire island", according to a statement from the Government of the Canary Islands. .

In the current academic year, the IES Zonzamas has a total of 1,172 students and 50 Vocational Training groups, divided into 8 disciplines: Health, Administration, Hospitality and Tourism, Transport and Vehicle Maintenance, Energy and Water, Electricity and Electronics, Computing, Security and Environment.

 

New offer in FP


In addition, the IES Zonzamas is teaching the Renewable Energy training cycle for the first time, which is also offered at the CIFP Villa de Agüimes (Gran Canaria) and at the IES San Matías (Tenerife). For its implementation, the General Directorate of Vocational Training and Adult Education granted it a grant of 7,000 euros and will soon receive another of 10,000 euros.

For its part, the Cabildo is going to provide the center with solar panels in a plan that affects the entire island. Its installation will be carried out by the students of the cycle themselves. The Government of the Canary Islands has explained that this course, currently con 20 students in the morning shift, "it was not wanted to be exceeded given that it is its first year of activity".

Also new is the Education and Environmental Control cycle, which has also been implemented in the CIFP Los Gladiolos (Tenerife) as a dual training project. This new cycle will soon receive an extraordinary financial contribution of 11,000 euros.

 

765 places in Lanzarote


In the global of the island of Lanzarote, the Ministry of Education, Universities and Sustainability offers a total of 765 places for face-to-face Vocational Training, of which 445 places are for intermediate-level cycles and 320 places for higher-level cycles.

Regarding Vocational Training at a distance, the places offered are 90, of which 40 are for intermediate-level cycles and 50 for higher-level cycles, in addition to 150 places for Initial Professional Qualification Programs.

In addition to the IES Zonzamas, the IES Teguise also offers an intermediate-level training cycle in Agroecological Production, whose students will participate in an open day on November 28 and 29 and in a "Saborea Lanzarote" project on the 30th. Other new offer cycles are also the Installation and Production of Heat and the Maintenance of Thermal and Fluid Installations, which are taught at the IES Arrecife.

 

Special regime teachings


Regarding special regime teachings, the current offer for Lanzarote is 360 places in Plastic Arts and Design and 1,690 in languages, of which 965 places are for English, 385 for German, 205 for French and 135 for Arabic. The Pancho Lasso Art School has the studies of Artistic Emptying and Molding as a new offer.

Finally, regarding Adult Education, the places offered are 840 in basic training, 320 for baccalaureate, 25 for English at a distance, 140 for test preparation courses and 25 for mentor classrooms.
