The Third Vice-President and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, insisted this Thursday that the extension of the ERTE will be maintained beyond September 30 "if necessary."
This was stated after signing with the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, the new agreement for the development of the Comprehensive Employment Plan of the Canary Islands (PIEC), which has a budget of 42 million euros.
The minister indicated that although the employment data "is going well", the tripartite commission will meet again in September to work and analyze whether it is necessary to maintain this social protection mechanism.
Yolanda Díaz made it clear that the ERTE "are here to stay" and reiterated that this mechanism "will continue" if necessary, as she understands that "there is no better social policy."
On the other hand, the minister stressed that the Canary Islands has had a differential treatment "from minute zero" in the extension of the ERTE and recalled that it is the only community that has been incorporated into the normative texts "with names and surnames."
