Neither the Cabildo nor the Arrecife City Council have escaped the consequences of the storm and the heavy rains that Lanzarote has endured since the early hours of this Tuesday. The basement of the first institution has been flooded with water and the workers had to take out their vehicles to avoid further damage. Likewise, the Department of Youth of Arrecife has suspended the courses scheduled for these days at the municipal headquarters, due to the flooding of its offices in Titerroy.
In this way, the Youth Councilor, Joel Delgado, has indicated that all courses are suspended until further notice, except the one dedicated to nature photography, which began this Monday, and which will be held at the headquarters of the Lanzarote Sports Union.
Joel Delgado has apologized to all those affected, as well as to the rest of the users of these offices, and has stated that in the coming dates he will inform about the start-up of these courses. In addition, he has indicated that the infoteca and the association premises, located at the headquarters of the Council, will not be able to be used for the next four or five days either.
Other suspended events
Due to the bad weather and the multiple floods that have occurred throughout the island, many of the activities scheduled for this Tuesday have been suspended. Thus, Arrecife has canceled the draw for the Carnival murgas, which was to have been held at 11:00 a.m. in the Municipal Archive.
In Yaiza, the mayor, Ángel Domínguez, has decreed the suspension of the activities of the Municipal Sports Schools and all those that are held outdoors scheduled for this Tuesday afternoon.
