Last Friday and Saturday, in the middle of Holy Week, there were two sewage spills on Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen, next to the Hotel Fariones, as reported by the PP in a statement. Precisely in this place a new wastewater pumping station has been built that, according to the formation, may have suffered a break, which left a "deplorable" image before the tourists who were passing through this area.
Faced with this situation, the PP has denounced that the works that are being carried out on Avenida de las Playas "have not been planned conscientiously, are not efficient and will not solve the existing wastewater sanitation problems in the tourist area of Puerto del Carmen". "The discharge of fecal water on the sand of the beaches will continue to be repeated constantly in the future", the formation has criticized.
"There were puddles of gray water on the beach and the tourists, when they saw them, threw their hands to their heads. They have taken a terrible image of Puerto del Carmen", lamented the PP councilor in Tías, José Pablo Lemés.
It should be remembered that the works that have been carried out on Avenida de las Playas, which have been harshly criticized by merchants and taxi drivers, included the improvement of the sanitation network in the area.
On the other hand, the PP has denounced that significant discharges of fecal water into the sea are occurring at high hours of the morning, through the submarine emissaries located on the coast of Puerto del Carmen. This situation, according to the formation, has been verified by several sailors and shipowners from La Tiñosa, as well as skippers of private boats.
