Next Tuesday, November 10, at 7:00 p.m., the premiere in Lanzarote of the documentary "Corruption: the harmful organism" will take place in the José Saramago Room of the César Manrique Foundation (La Plazuela, Arrecife). The feature film, which is produced by Pandora Box TV and sponsored by the FCM, reveals "the real situation, beyond the well-known cases with names and surnames in Spain, regarding corruption in our country", explains the Foundation.
After the premiere, at 8:45 p.m., there will be a round table, as a film forum, in which Federico Aguilera Klink, professor of Applied Economics at the University of La Laguna, will participate; Ana Linares Vallecillos, prosecutor of the Provincial Court of Seville specializing in urban planning and environment; Albert Sanfeliu and Teresa Soler, directors of the documentary; and Saúl García Crespo, journalist, who will participate as an active moderator of the colloquium.
The documentary tells the story of corruption in Spain based on the testimony of people who have suffered and denounced it and the analysis of prominent personalities from the judicial, political and teaching fields. In it, "tools and means are offered to confront it from knowledge and collective organization", explains the FCM in its note.
This documentary aims to "advance on the sterile complaint, it is about increasing the debate, reflection and stimulating citizen involvement, increasing its social and political influence to face the necessary system change".
Among the testimonies and statements that appear in the film, it is worth mentioning those of Carlos Jiménez Villarejo, former chief prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office; Victoria Camps, professor emeritus of Moral and Political Philosophy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona; Fernando Urruticoechea, auditor in the City Councils of Ermua, Leganés, Castro Urdiales and Crevillent; Itziar González Virós, architect, urban planner and expert in citizen participation processes and conflict resolution in public space; Manuel Villoria, founder and member of Transparency International, Spanish chapter; or Joan Queralt, professor of Law at the UB of Barcelona, among others.
"Corruption: the harmful organism" has been screened both in cinemas and in different universities and cultural centers in Barcelona, Madrid, Huelva, Lérida, Murcia, Bilbao, Valencia, Oviedo or Donosti. The film premieres in Lanzarote with this activity organized by the César Manrique Foundation, which also participates as a sponsor of the documentary.
