Lanzarote seduces elite athletes and competition teams to get in shape for the new championships that will be held throughout the new year 2009. The members of the Dutch Rabobank cycling team have been on the island of volcanoes doing pre-season training. The facilities of the Iberostar Costa Calero Hotel, grouped in ASOLAN, has hosted in these weeks the main members of this winning team of the latest editions of the Tour de France and the Vuelta Ciclista a España.
The Rabobank team, with which [Oscar->http://oscars-awards.com] Freire achieved several cycling triumphs for Spain, prepared for its next sporting event in Australia on the roads of Lanzarote and in the sports facilities and swimming pools of the Iberostar Costa Calero.
The Minister of Tourism of Lanzarote, María José Docal; the director of the Tourist Board and the Foreign Promotion Society of Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández; directors of Asolan, the tourism association of Lanzarote, and Jesús Izquierdo, representing the Iberostar Costa Calero, paid tribute on the afternoon of Thursday, December 18, to the members and technical staff of Rabobank, among whom was its Olympian in Athens, media star and awarded as the Best Athlete of the Year 2006 in Holland, Theo Boss.
The members of the team posed before the media - among which was a delegation of media from Holland - with caps and cases with the image of Lanzarote, work of Manrique.
