Folders, sheets, pens and backpacks will once again be the protagonists in the mornings, as Secondary Education classes have started this Wednesday. "Although it is Wednesday they should start, there are institutes that will do it next Monday because this Friday is a holiday," explained Juan Cruz, Island Director of Education.
Cruz also commented that the volume of students starting classes is around 8,000 people, "although it is not yet a definitive figure because the Training Cycles, the Social Guarantee Programs and the students pending approval of the PAU have not yet joined".
Almost 900 teachers have also made the first contact with the students, although according to the Island Director of Education there are still some positions to be filled, "but in the coming days the appointments of the teachers will proceed".
The institutes that house the most students during this academic year are the I.E.S. Blas Cabrera of Arrecife with 900 people, the I.E.S. César Manrique with 550, the one in San Bartolomé and the one in Tías with 520 each and the I.E.S. of Teguise with 500.
