The company in charge of the cleaning service of the municipality of Tinajo, Camilo Álvarez, assures that the City Council owes it close to one million euros and demands that the City Council expedite the procedures to pay the outstanding debts. The company's workers have been on strike this week although, according to the councilor of the area, Antonio Morales, before the microphones of Radio Lanzarote, the service was restored this Tuesday.

In a statement, the company's management states that, in the course of 2011, the Tinajo City Council "has not paid any certification of the services, which amounts to approximately 200,000 euros." To this, according to the company, it is necessary to add "a debt of 738,960 euros, corresponding to the revision and update of prices since 2001." "This debt has been repeatedly claimed without being paid to this day," the company says.

"The delay in payments by the Administrations has caused delays in some obligations with the public treasury and Social Security, with the consequent embargoes. Likewise, since there is no punctual payment by the City Councils, there are delays in the payment of payrolls to the company's personnel," says Camilo Álvarez.

Therefore, the company in charge of cleaning the municipality requests the "urgent" streamlining of the procedures for the payment of outstanding debts and the certifications of the services provided during 2011, "the only way to normalize economic relations between Camilo Álvarez and the Tinajo City Council."
