The Cabildo of Lanzarote approved this Tuesday the motion presented by Armando Santana, councilor in the Mixed Group, in which the Government of Spain is urged to repeal Royal Decree 666/2023, a regulation that has generated great rejection in the veterinary sector.

During the plenary session, Santana defended the importance of this initiative, arguing that "the decree imposes new requirements that negatively affect veterinary professionals and animal welfare and public health."

"The veterinary sector is fundamental to our society, and from the institutions we must guarantee that they can carry out their work in fair and viable conditions," Santana said.

The approved motion requested the Island Government to also join this petition, urging the central Executive to review and repeal a regulation that has generated uncertainty and concern in the sector.

With this institutional support, the Cabildo of Lanzarote positions itself in favor of the veterinarians of the island and the country as a whole, conveying its support to the demands of the group.
