The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, has announced that he will address Red Eléctrica de España (REE) to request the stoppage of the painting in white and red of the towers installed on the Arrecife-San Bartolomé road below the Argana debris dump, "which implies an enormous environmental impact on an island declared a Biosphere Reserve for more than two decades, the world's first tourist destination to have a sustainable certification endorsed by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, one of the territories that are part of the World Network of Geoparks and that lives on tourism, and its landscape".
Therefore, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote will request a new meeting with the president of REE and the stoppage of the initiative until said meeting takes place. Likewise, San Ginés has announced that he will seek the support of the plenary session of the Corporation that he chairs, incorporating this issue into the agenda of the next session that will take place next week and from which he hopes that "a solid plenary agreement will emanate that supports the announced initiative".
