After a meeting of all the political groups present in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and at the initiative of the Minister of Culture, Alberto Aguiar, a unanimous agreement has been reached to transfer to the Plenary of the institution the appointment of the folklorist Ico Arrocha as Favorite Son of the island of Lanzarote.
The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, congratulated all the groups for this consensus, which recognizes "a man dedicated to popular culture and one of the most important folklorists of our island."
Corujo, who had held previous meetings with the family of Ico Arrocha in this regard, vindicated the memory of a "masterful voice, singer and guardian of the best melodies of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands." With this recognition, the president of the Cabildo assured, "Lanzarote does justice to folklore."
