The Cabildo of Lanzarote finances with nearly 2 million euros fifteen works in the municipality of Tías included in the Municipal Cooperation Plans, with own funds of the first Island Corporation.
The president of the Cabildo, Mª Dolores Corujo, stated, in the meeting after the visit of the works, that "of this important amount, highlights the nominated subsidy of 1,138,742.36 euros charged to the Municipal Cooperation Plan of this year 2020. The Cabildo must continue investing in the municipalities so that they can face very important projects demanded by the residents themselves. Collaboration is essential between administrations."
To know the evolution and the state of execution of these works, this Monday, Corujo, accompanied by the Councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, has moved to the municipality of Tías. There they were received by the mayor, José Juan Cruz and part of the Government group of the consistory.
The visit began in the town of Puerto del Carmen, specifically in Playa Grande, "where the work of repairing the breakwater wall is being executed, which due to the storms is quite deteriorated with the consequent danger for the users of the beach. In addition, the reconstruction of the stairs to access the beach will also be carried out, for a total amount of 201,792.30 euros," as explained by Councilor Jacobo Medina.

In terms of road infrastructure, important improvement works are also being carried out on Austria, Colombia, Argentina and Malagueñas streets, with an investment that exceeds 202,000 euros. The works consist of improving pavements, infrastructure and urban equipment, thus achieving a more accessible and comfortable environment for both residents and visitors.
Also included in the Municipal Cooperation Plan of Tías is the renovation of the lighting of the Central Avenue of Tías Alcalde Florencio Suárez for about 283,000 euros. With this work not only will improve the light output of that street, but also contributes to energy saving with the installation of more efficient luminaires.
Improvement of sports infrastructures
The facilities and sports spaces of the municipality of Tías will also be renovated. This is the case of the Municipal Wrestling Ground 'Ulpiano Rodríguez Pérez', "where the first Corporation has invested nearly 560,000 euros to repair and adapt these facilities to current regulations," says the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz.
"Along with the works of conditioning the exteriors," adds Cruz, "the total replacement of the roof of the terrero and the restructuring of the staggered corridors of access to the stands is also being carried out."

Also, the works of repair and modernization of the changing rooms of the Sports Center of Tías are being executed with an investment of 234,000 euros, as well as the works of expansion of the Sports City of Tías, awarded last year for 274,593.40 euros and that are progressing at a good pace. In addition, the Municipal Cooperation Plan of 2020 includes the works of adaptation for multipurpose buildings, worth 663,997.69 euros, and the renovation of the soccer field of Puerto del Carmen, whose investment will exceed 570,000 euros. Both works already have their respective drafted projects.
"The intention of the Government Group of the Cabildo is to continue with these visits to all the municipalities to know, in situ, the state of these works, which will undoubtedly contribute to improve the quality and efficiency of public services in our island," concludes the president.
