The Planning and Project Coordination Unit area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has informed the different town councils of the island about the Urban Agenda 2030.

This new strategic plan was recently discussed with the different town councils in a meeting held by the also vice president and Planning Councilor, Jacobo Medina, with the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and different councilors from the rest of the island's municipalities.

“This strategy aims to improve the physical, environmental, economic and social dimension of the island of Lanzarote, and it is essential that all the town councils of the island approve the adhesion to the Urban Agenda and thus work together for the future of Lanzarote and La Graciosa”, says the councilor, Jacobo Medina.

The attendees of the meeting were able to visualize a video in which they explained the objectives of the Urban Agenda, such as carrying out a territorial planning, promoting social cohesion, avoiding urban dispersion, promoting the economy, leading digital innovation or favoring the instruments of intervention and governance.

Likewise, the municipalities were also informed that the new call for EDUSI funds, called in this case “Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain 2021-2027”, is scheduled to open next October.

“It is time to work together, cohesively, to achieve the objectives we set for the future of our two islands”, adds Medina.

The different town councils of the island will have to submit the adhesion to this Urban Agenda 2030 to approval in the municipal plenaries this September.
