The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, signed this Wednesday the respective agreements with the seven town councils of the island by which the procedure for the direct concession of the nominated subsidies to employment-generating projects will be regulated, within the framework of the Municipal Employment Plan, which amounts to 904,480 euros. In addition, it is planned that in the coming days the agreements on employment co-financed with the FDCAN Funds will be signed, the amount of which reaches 1.8 million euros.

"These subsidies, which amount to a total of 2,704,480 euros, will be used for the development of projects that create new jobs on our island, mainly among the long-term unemployed. Thus, the town councils will be able to carry out actions to promote labor insertion through the realization of works and services of general and social interest, which improve the quality of life of the island's population”, said the president.

Under these agreements, the subsidies will be distributed according to the number of inhabitants and unemployed people in each of the municipalities. Thus, the City Council of Arrecife will receive 1,130,303 euros; Haría 156,247 euros; San Bartolomé 325,798 euros; Teguise 296,926 euros; Tías 322,945 euros; Tinajo 159,073 euros and Yaiza 313,186 euros.

The Minister of Employment, Nerea Santana, explains that “the health and economic crisis that we are suffering is leaving many families and self-employed people unemployed, so the Cabildo has set itself the clear objective of promoting economic reactivation and promoting labor insertion in collaboration with the town councils, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable groups”.
