The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Social Welfare and Inclusion, led by Marci Acuña, has held a participatory meeting with more than twenty entities in the field of disability, with the aim of collaboratively implementing the Island Accessibility and Inclusion Strategy.

The meeting, held on April 8, is part of an open and continuous process that places people at the center of public policies. Approved unanimously in the island plenary session in November 2024, this Strategy represents a regional milestone for its innovative approach, built from institutional empathy, active participation and expert knowledge of those who live daily with physical, social and attitudinal barriers.

During the meeting, the associations directly conveyed the main difficulties faced by people with disabilities in their daily lives, providing concrete proposals for their elimination. This working dynamic, based on active listening and mutual respect, reinforces the Cabildo's commitment to real and effective universal accessibility.

The Minister of Social Welfare, Marci Acuña, stressed that "these meetings not only enrich the Island Strategy, but also allow us to transform reality with public policies that are born from humanity, cooperation and the will to build a fairer and more friendly island for everyone".

"We are convinced that accessibility is not imposed, it is built in community, from experience, shared knowledge and permanent dialogue", added the Minister, who confirmed that "this type of meeting will continue to be developed throughout the year, consolidating a living and constantly evolving strategy".
