The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Island Agricultural Service, is launching the free vine staking campaign, which will take place at the facilities of the Experimental Agricultural Farm from January 15 to 31. This initiative aims to promote the propagation of local vine varieties, such as Malvasia, Listán and Diego, in support of farmers interested in planting new vines on their farms.

The president of the Corporation and Minister of Agriculture, Oswaldo Betancort, points out that "this activity supports the preservation of our local vine varieties and promotes the vitality of the local agricultural sector." "It is an opportunity to strengthen wine production and ensure the future of our traditions," he adds.

To participate, farmers must provide the necessary plant material, ensuring that the rods to be propagated are from healthy plants, in addition to being cut to four productive buds and having an approximate thickness of one centimeter in diameter. It is important that they are round, not flattened, and that the variety is correctly identified. Also, the cuttings must have an exact length of 40 centimeters

Those interested can register by going to the offices of the Cabildo's Agricultural Farm from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is also possible to register by calling 928 598 500, using extensions 3600, 3601 and 3622. Once the application is accepted, each farmer will be assigned a specific date to bring the plant material to the Farm.
