The Cabildo of Lanzarote allocates 260,000 euros in subsidies to modernize the taxi fleet

The call includes two lines of aid, the acquisition of adapted vehicles and other efficient and less polluting ones

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has approved the call for subsidies aimed at improving transport and mobility on the island of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, with a total allocation of 260,000 euros, an initiative that seeks to promote the modernization of the taxi fleet and guarantee a more accessible, sustainable and efficient public transport service.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, has underlined the importance of these aids to advance in the renewal of the vehicle fleet on the island. "Our commitment is to promote modern transport adapted to the needs of our citizens and facilitate the possibility for professionals in the sector to renew their vehicles, prioritizing those that are efficient and adapted to people with reduced mobility," Betancort pointed out.

For his part, the Minister of Transport and Mobility, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, stressed that these subsidies represent a step forward in improving the transport service on the island. "With this call, we encourage the incorporation of less polluting and more accessible vehicles, aligning ourselves with the objectives of sustainability and improving the quality of life of our citizens and visitors," explained Jiménez.

 

Subsidy lines 

The call includes two lines of aid: the acquisition of adapted vehicles for people with reduced mobility (PRM) for the discretionary transport of passengers (taxis), with an allocation of 30,000 euros, and the acquisition of efficient and less polluting vehicles for the discretionary transport of passengers (taxis), with an allocation of 230,000 euros.

Those interested may submit their applications within a period of 30 calendar days from the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.

From the Cabildo of Lanzarote, a call is made to the professionals of the transport sector to take advantage of these aids and contribute to improving mobility on the island. "It is essential that we work together to guarantee efficient, modern and sustainable transport that responds to the real needs of the population," concluded Betancort.
