The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Employment managed by Jorge Peñas, has granted a direct subsidy of 245,000 euros to the Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL) for the development of the "Lanzarote Employability Plan 2022/2023".

"Reducing the unemployment rate, especially for groups that have more difficulties accessing the labor market, remains a priority for this government group. Therefore, we continue to promote and support measures that favor employment," emphasizes the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo.

As explained by the Minister of Employment, Jorge Peñas, the main objective of this project "is to promote labor insertion and employability, promoting the reduction of high levels of unemployment in certain groups with difficult insertion, through subsidies to companies and other actions that allow unemployed people to effectively and actively search for employment."

The subsidies for labor hiring will be aimed at companies domiciled in Lanzarote and with work centers on the island, which hire, full-time, people who are registered as job seekers in the Canarian Employment Service. Up to 50% of the costs of labor hiring (salary and social security contributions) will be subsidized with amounts ranging from 400 to 650 euros per month, depending on the group to which the hired person belongs, for a maximum of 10 months.

Specifically, companies that hire unemployed people over 45 years of age, long-term unemployed, women in potential risk situations, unemployed people with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%, foreign people with work permits, and unemployed people in their first job with qualified training accredited by a public administration may benefit from a subsidy of up to 650 euros per month.

In the case of companies that hire people unemployed over 30 years of age, women and people in their first job without qualified training, the subsidy may amount to up to 550 euros per month. Finally, the amount will decrease to 450 euros when it comes to hiring unemployed people not belonging to any of the previous groups.

In addition to these lines of aid, whose call is scheduled to open next January, a Labor Orientation Service will also be established, whose purpose will be to promote the employability of any unemployed person, and especially those belonging to some of the groups mentioned above, through the performance of active job search activities as well as training actions.

"The data from last year supports the good management and, therefore, the continuity of this project by the Lanzarote Business Confederation," says the Minister of Employment of the Cabildo, Jorge Peñas, who details that "the Employability Plan 2021/2022 served to help the hiring of 51 people." In addition, "the Labor Orientation Service served 40 people, reaching a 10% insertion rate," concludes Peñas.
