The Cabildo de Lanzarote, through the Area of Transport and Mobility, has published this Wednesday in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas the call for subsidies for the modernization of the taxi sector on the island.

Professionals in the sector will have a period of 30 calendar days to submit their applications and apply for these grants, which seek to promote the renewal of the taxi fleet, prioritizing the incorporation of more efficient and accessible vehicles.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the importance of this initiative to guarantee more modern and sustainable public transport. “Our commitment is to promote transport adapted to the needs of our citizens and to facilitate professionals in the sector the possibility of renewing their vehicles, prioritizing those that are efficient and adapted to people with reduced mobility”, Betancort emphasizes.

For his part, the Minister of Transport and Mobility, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, emphasized that “these aids represent a significant step in improving the transport service on the island as we encourage the incorporation of less polluting and more accessible vehicles, aligning ourselves with the objectives of sustainability and improving the quality of life of our citizens and visitors”, he explained.
