The Cabildo of Lanzarote has created for the first time a Youth Board in which twenty groups participate to address different problems and challenges related to culture, art, health, prevention, the environment, feminism and immigration.
The Councilor for Education and coordinator of the Board, Paula Corujo, explains that the meetings, which have already been held in April, May and June to shape this new body, "are part of the program of actions developed by the Youth Board of Lanzarote, a body created from the Island Corporation to listen to the proposals, demands and complaints of the young people of Lanzarote."
The objective of these telematic meetings has been "to promote relations and equality among the young people of the Island, supporting themselves in different activities of dynamization, participation and volunteering", something for which they have used, according to the Cabildo, "a transversal and integrating dynamic thanks to the exchange of perspectives, ideas and background of each group".
The councilor values the results obtained and highlights "the joint work that has been carried out and in which different associations and foundations have been directly and indirectly involved to give voice to young people."
The participating associations were Lánzate LGTBI+, Lanzaentiende, Feminista Mararía Lanzarote, Veintinueve Trece, Ars Magna, Trib-Arte, Chrysallis, Families of Trans Minors, Youth Section of the Lanzarote Red Cross, El Cribo, Mental Health El Cribo, Creciendo Yaiza, Tinguafaya, Los Burgaos, Shin Sekai Lanzarote, K pop Collective, Federation of Immigrant Associations of Lanzarote, Moroccan Horizon, and Mauritanians of Lanzarote.
