The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Open Government Area, collaborates with the Department of Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, in holding a participatory day to collect contributions from the population for the preliminary draft of the Law on Transparency and Citizen Participation. The event, which will take place next Wednesday, February 19, at 11:00 a.m., in the Assembly Hall, aims to promote and expand the debate among the community.
The island councilor of Open Government and Citizen Participation, Aroa Revelo, invites the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa to join and participate in this initiative, "as it is essential to know the opinions of the population in order to create and implement plans and actions that respond to their needs."
These meetings are designed to create free spaces, where different groups can contribute with their suggestions to the drafting of the new law. In this line, the purpose of this participatory day will be to update the regulatory framework of transparency in the public sphere and promote citizen involvement in decision-making processes.
Program and registration
The day will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the institutional welcome, by the Minister of Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, Nieves Lady Barreto; the General Director of Transparency and Citizen Participation of the Canarian Executive, Carmen Delia Alberto Gómez, and the Councilor of Open Government of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Aroa Revelo.
Subsequently, at 11:20 a.m., there will be a presentation on transparency, by the head of the Transparency and Citizen Participation service of the Government of the Canary Islands, Roger Ulises Guillén, while at 11:40 a.m., a conference on citizen participation will be offered by the member of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Social Work of the ULPGC Víctor Lorenzo Alonso.

Public consultation of the Law on Transparency and Citizen Participation
The Government of the Canary Islands has opened the Law on Transparency and Citizen Participation to public consultation for all the islands. It will be available until March 17, 2025, through the following electronic address.
