The Cabildo has once again changed its head in the area of Historical Heritage, a little more than two years after the dismissal of María Antonia Perera. At that time, Rita Marrero Romero was appointed to the position, who has been holding the position since then. However, she has now decided to submit her resignation in an "irrevocable" manner.

In a decree signed last Tuesday by the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, the resignation is accepted and Sandra Cabrera Pacheco is appointed to the position. In her case, unlike her predecessors, she will not serve as head but as "coordinator" of the Historical Heritage Service of the Cabildo. And the reason, according to the sources consulted, would be that she is an employee of the Corporation, but not an official. According to the decree, her election occurred after "studying the possibilities of filling said position among the technical personnel" of the department.

The new Heritage coordinator is the organization secretary of the Local Committee of CC in Arrecife. In addition, she was a candidate on the Coalición Canaria lists in the last elections to the Arrecife City Council and also held second place on the candidacy for the Senate elections.

Perera, dismissed in Heritage and then as director of the archaeological museum

The changes in the head of the Heritage area began in September 2014, when Nona Perera was dismissed. "It is not a dismissal, it is rather that she is entrusted with a new project," La Voz was assured at the time by the government group, which denied that the decision was related to the "discrepancies" that Pedro San Ginés had maintained with her.

The "new project" that was entrusted to her then was the direction of the archaeological museum that the Cabildo intended to open in the house it bought on Fajardo street, and which has still not seen the light. "It is true that the museum does not yet exist, but we want it to be put into operation as soon as possible," said Juan Antonio De La Hoz, who was the Heritage Councilor in 2014, stating that they needed a person who was "on top of Tragsa" and who would dedicate himself to the project "body and soul".

Five months later, however, Nona Perera was dismissed as director of the archaeological museum. And her dismissal occurred shortly after she issued a report warning that the works were destroying the historical values "that justified the purchase" of the property. In addition, Perera warned that the structure of the house was "in danger", since the water evacuation system "drags the foundations of the building".
