The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Energy Department, has begun the installation works of new fast charging points for electric vehicles in the towns of Playa Honda, Tías, and Arrecife, with a total investment of 140,615 euros (IGIC included), thus advancing in the deployment of a modern and accessible island network that promotes sustainable mobility on the island

These new actions are added to the works already executed in Costa Teguise and Tinajo for an amount of 99,552 euros, whose charging points are currently in the administrative processing phase necessary for their upcoming commissioning, according to the forecasts of the Energy Department.

The insular energy counselor, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, has underlined the importance of this new boost to the insular energy infrastructure, stating that “with the start of these works we take a decisive step to consolidate a true insular electric charging network. Our objective is that any citizen, wherever they live, **has access to efficient and latest-generation charging points**”

Jiménez has recalled that these actions are part of a planning initiated in this term, aimed at facilitating the energy transition and promoting the use of electric vehicles as a real alternative to conventional transport.

All actions are being executed with funding from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), funds managed by María Jesús Tovar, insular vice-president and head of the Planning and Project Coordination Area: "This is great news for sustainable mobility on the island. Through FDCAN funds, we will continue to invest in projects that aim to further promote the transition to clean energies," she added.

With the start of works in Playa Honda, Tías and Arrecife, and with the points of Costa Teguise and Tinajo in the final stretch for their commissioning, as well as the upcoming award of the Playa Blanca charging point, the Cabildo de Lanzarote continues to strengthen an island charging network
