The Cabildo of Lanzarote has just awarded the drafting of the update of the Congress Palace project, "a fundamental step to unblock, after ten years of paralysis, this important and demanded work", according to the vice president and island councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina.
"From the area of Public Works, Planning and Projects Unit we have given a boost to this procedure by awarding the necessary update of the Congress Palace project to the architect Carlos Morales in order not to lose the subsidy of 150,000 euros destined for this purpose", says Medina.
The vice president of the Cabildo regrets that "Lanzarote is the only island in the Canary Islands that does not have an auditorium", so he affirms that his priority in the Government will be to unblock this project after too many years".
"The Congress Palace is a fundamental infrastructure for our island, both from the tourist and cultural point of view, which will allow us to diversify our tourism and will revert, in a very positive way, in our island economy", points out Jacobo Medina.
Likewise, the councilor affirms that in order to unblock the urban situation of the plot of land in Arrecife where the Congress Palace is planned to be built, "various certificates have also recently been requested from the Arrecife City Council regarding the ownership of the land and the category of the land in order to adapt it to current urban planning regulations".
